Directgov Syndication pilot – now live
The pilot syndication platform for Directgov content is now live. This platform allows you to use Directgov content for your own means, such as: adding to websites, providing information tools, etc. Developers and webmasters can register for the pilot now.
As with the launch of data.gov.uk this is a pilot to manage the load on our servers. So we encourage you to sign-up early to ensure you get access.
Three areas of the Directgov site are available:
- newsroom stories
- information articles
- central government, local authority and community organisation contacts
Once you've registered, you'll be given a link to the syndication platform and an implementation guide which explains how to use and get the most out of the syndication web service.
We will ensure that any applications or ideas that you create will be visible from Directgov | Innovate apps and we encourage you to post them in the data.gov.uk app gallery as well. We also welcome your ideas and experiences via the data.gov.uk forum pages.
If you spot any errors or omissions in the data, please contact us at so we can fix these speedily. As this is a pilot, your feedback is important to help us improve the service.

Mobile Website
Hi Alex,
Thanks for the reply. I have now made a mobile website (still alpha: http://ebusinessconsultant.co.uk/direct.gov.uk/mobile) using the API. The plan is to extend the mobile web further by adding a search function. I have 3 questions:
01: Is the mobile website breaking any rules?
02: Can I promote the mobile website to the public?
03: How often is the current format likely to change?

Directgov Syndication API: php/curl/demo
Hello,
I have a demo here (http://ebusinessconsultant.co.uk/direct.gov.uk/) using "Directgov Syndication pilot" my question now is - where do i go next? I mean how do I make use of this syndication data? Example of usage would be nice - helps to get the creative juice flowing.

Thanks for your comment. So
Thanks for your comment. So far, we've seen developers experimenting with visual navigation systems for Directgov information as well as adding specific content areas, eg information about council services, to their sites. It's still early days so you should check back with the Innovate blog to see what other developers are up to. We'll be showcasing the best ideas and implementations as they are submitted to us.
