Rewired State: National Hack the Government Day
What? Hack the Government Day? We’ve heard a rumour that we’re not very good at computers.
If you want to spend a day mashing up data with other developers we recommend you sign up and attend this event. It’s going to be held in London on 7th March 2009 at the Guardian offices in Kings Place. We intend to add to the wiki of data sources being provided on the day.
To find out more (and sign up) go to rewiredstate.org. We look forward to the results!

Well done to Directgov for supporting this. Maybe it will be the start of a new era for UK public sector websites. Small groups of open source developers can deliver better results for a fraction of the budget spent on most government websites.

They are looking primarily for programmers/developers to attend on the day as they will be developing new prototypes with data provided by different sources for the event. Check out their website for more details.

I am probably not qualified to comment on this (I am not a coder) but sounds really interesting. Let me know if I can go!
